I decided to try a Taekwondo class in 1978. I trained
for about 3 years and was rewarded with promotion to 1st Dan. In
1984 I joined the United States Army. In 1997 I started attending classes in
Dykemjuka under Vince Dy. The Army pulled me away for school and a 1-year tour
in Korea (my second), and upon my return I discovered that Vince had moved. I
needed a good instructor so I went to Tony Chester at Anthony’s Martial Arts.
While studying under Shihan Chester, I had the opportunity to meet and train
with a number of truly outstanding martial artists. Included in this group were
Professor Steve Patton and Shihan Craig Hamm. Shihan Chester, Professor Patton
and Shihan Hamm were the keys to opening my eyes to the true Christian Martial
way. They also brought me back to my Christian roots. Shihan Chester and
Professor Patton promoted me to 3rd Dan in Budoshin Kai and Budoshin
Kenpo Jitsu after a long period of intense scrutiny. Shihan Chester later
bestowed the honor of 4th Dan on me and Shihan Hamm promoted me to 4th
Dan in Budoshin White Tiger Hapkido. I was inducted into the United States
Martial Arts Association Hall of Fame and during the associated Training Camp, I
had the opportunity to meet Shihan Hank Williams and enjoy training in Hard Hand
Hapkido and Chung Do Kwan Taekwondo. Under Shihan Williams, I hold 7th
Dan in Hapkido and 5th Dan in Chung Do Kwan Taekwondo.
God led us to start an outreach at “The Bridge” Chapel on
Fort Campbell, KY. After I retired from the Army, God allowed us to start an
Outreach at the Central Christian Church in Springfield, VA in February 2004.
We continued until July 2005, when He led us to Huntsville, AL where we started
another Outreach program.
Simple stated, my primary mission in life is two-fold; my
relationship with Jesus Christ and bring others to a relationship with Him.
