Patch/Logo Meaning
I want to
take the opportunity to share with you the message that is contained in the new
patch design. It really excites me how God will talk to us even in a patch for
the organization. Shihan Frazier and I were sitting in front of the computer one
night recently when we decided to design a patch. As we went along, it seemed to
come together like a beautiful master piece. There was no set design before we
started and after it fell together, the message was realized. The Patch has four
designs around the cross.
The
Cross
The Cross
is to show that Jesus is the Center of our lives; He has the Lordship of
everything we say and do.
The
Colors
The
Colors represent different things. The Red represents the Blood that was shed by
Jesus on the Cross for out Sins. The White represents the cleansing that
happens when we accept the blood that Jesus shed for us which washes us White as
Snow. The Blue represents truth, loyality, sincerity, eternity, godliness,
heaven and also “stripes that wound” (Proverbs 20:30). The Black represents the
Sin/sins that is all around us each and everyday. The Yellow symbolizes Light
which is a symbol of the presence of God, renewal and hope, and resurrection of
Jesus. The skin tone or peach color reminds us that we are human and not
perfect nor without sin which reminds us to pray to God for the forgiveness of
our sins.
The
Seven Stars
The
number seven is God's number of Perfection. He created the world in seven
days. We believe that after Six thousand years the 1000 year millennium will
begin which equals seven thousand, and one day in heaven is like a thousand
years on earth, therefore, seven thousand years and seven days. Seven days of
marching around Jericho and many more instances. God's number of perfection
which every Christian strives to achieve to be more like Jesus, thus fulfilling
the words of Jesus and we attempt, and continue knowing that even though we sin,
we are covered by his blood to be Holy even as He is Holy
Praying Hands
These hands
a symbolic of how we talk to God, it shows how we should pray before God for
forgiveness of our sins. As we pray and ask God to forgive us, this is where we
receive Christ into our hearts. Even though we receive God into our hearts, it
doesn't mean that we always put Jesus in the center of our lives. Jesus requires
that we put him first and that we let him have the Lordship of our lives,
whether it is in our relationships, our marriages, our finances, or health
etc... The Word says in Matt. 6:33 To seek ye first, the kingdom of God and His
righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. If you notice he
didn't say second or third but, FIRST!!! So many times we let our busy lives
crowd out God and we reserve him a small corner of our heart and lives. These
are the times we wonder why things aren't going right and our lives are without
peace. We should allow God to center our lives so that we can always experience
the peace of mind that passes all understanding and that only comes through
Jesus Christ being placed in the center of everything.
Martial Arts Throw
The jujitsu
or hapkido throw is symbolic of casting your burdens at the foot of the cross.
This also is representive of laying down your sins at the feet of Jesus. We
all have burdens in our lives, some of which we have brought into our own lives
by making wrong decisions, by being disobedient to God and some by the sure
attack of the enemy to make us stumble and fall. The word says that the devil
comes to steal, kill and destroy. His objective is to bring you step by step
further away from God. He would like nothing more than to enclose you into a
stronghold of negative thinking, believing that God doesn't want you to be happy
or to have a life abundant. Even Jesus said, in this life we all have trouble,
and that it rains on the just and the unjust. We live in a society today that
curses God and is growing more and more confused everyday. This ever increasing
stress loads more and more burdens on our shoulders daily. But, rest assure that
your Father in heaven cares about you and he is willing to take on your burdens.
The Words says Cast your cares on him, because he cared for you. It also
says Come unto me all you who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Whether
your sin sick, whether you’re emotionally sick, whether you’re sick in your
bodies, in your relationships or burdened by the devil's oppression. Jesus came
to set the captives free, and whoever the Son has set free is free indeed. Jesus
took the stripes for your healing; he was bruised for you eniquities. God gave
us undeserved mercy when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the Cross. We deserve
death because the Word says the wages of sin is death, but we were given a
pardon by the act of love shown on the Cross. If we accept it, God will give us
deliverance of our burdens.
The
Bible
The Bible
is symbolic of the way God speaks to us. His instruction was given by the Word
and he talks to us and directs our paths through it. The Word says, I hide thy
Word in my heart that I may not sin against God. The Word is your ultimate
weapon; it is your sword that slices the enemy into bits. The Word of God was
used to defeat the enemy by Jesus in the wilderness. He gave us a demonstration
of how the Word holds true to being our sword to defeat the enemy. If you were
told that an enemy was going to assault you in the morning when you walk out the
door and you aren't aware of where it will come from, and the only weapon you
have is a sword to defeat this attack and a book to learn how to use it. Would
you place it on a shelf to collect dust or would you learn the techniques to
defeat the enemy? Of course you would learn the techniques and practice! Our
Bible is the book of techniques and the sword is the Word of God. The enemy is satan
and he will attack! If he hasn't yet, hold on, he will! We have to get into the
Word and learn what God wants us to learn.
The
Dove
The dove is
symbolic of the Holy Spirit. He comforts us in times of trouble, convicts us
when we sin, and leads us to others that need witnessing. When Jesus ascended
to heaven, he told the disciples that there would be another come to be a part
of them and that he was the comforter and that he would be with them. The Holy
Spirit indwells us after when we are saved and continues to help us until the
day of the Lord's return. Putting it all together, we pray for salvation, cast
our sins and burdens at the cross, use the word to communicate with God and to
defeat the enemy and the Holy Spirit dwells with us for comfort.
Wear this
patch proudly, for it displays the plan of salvation, you will be asked what it
means and this gives you the great opportunity to witness the gospel.
