Martial Art System Ranking and Training Program

What is the Ranking Program?

The martial arts styles that Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association recognizes that allow ranking are  Hapkido, Koreja Do Karate, Shotokan Karate, Universal Taekwondo, Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do, Aikido,  Namido Jujitsu, American Freestyle Jujitsu, Nihon Jujutsu, Judo, Mixed Martial Arts, Kenpo (American & Jitsu), Western Malay Kickboxing and a number of other hard and soft styles that our counsel are ranked and able to rank in.  These systems are now considered “open systems” which mean that the specific rank requirements for rankings are set by the individual instructors, other than by Koreja Do, However, the instructor is always welcome to and encouraged to use the requirements recommended by this organization. This concept also makes the opportunity available for ranking.  It only makes sense to rank from a soft style to a soft style and from a hard style to a hard style, for anyone who has, for instance, trained in Goju Ryu, knows all of the kicks, blocks and strikes of someone who has studied Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do, it is only applied a different way, but neither would know the techniques of Aikido or Jujitsu, and vice versa, the same applies with a soft style.  An Aikidoist would not want to be ranked to a hard style because though they may be adequate in Iriminage, or Kotegaish, they would not be sufficient in I forms, Hyungs, or Pyanans, or spinning heel or hook kicks, etc.  To rank from a hard style to a soft style, would not make sense.  So what we do on ranking is simple and sensible.

Because these arts are “open systems”, Black belts from another martial art style or system (Karate, Jujitsu, Kempo, etc.) and receive the training in one of these arts. Many of our members who join the Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association have found it beneficial to cross train into one of these open systems, because they can have the opportunity to continue their training in their mother art and expand into other areas of interest.

As long as you are a legitimate black belt in any martial art, you can obtain ranking through our program. We respect the rank, skill, and hard work of our members and will honor their rank by offering tested rank level in the ranking program in the art of their choosing. As time goes by, through personal training with one of the open system’s masters or through the video training program, the ranking member will learn the complete style of the chosen system.

 How to Aquire Rank...

A WORD ABOUT SOKESHIP CERTIFICATION

If you are applying for membership and hold a 10th Dan / Degree, please note that the Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association does not issue Sokeship to its members with the exception that a member may wish to issue Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association rank / grade certification to their students. This is optional and not mandatory.

If one claims 10th Dan or any rank / grade and is applying for Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association membership. The rank / grade must come from ones own teacher and or Ryu. The Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association does not except association or cross grade diplomas for membership consideration.

This does not mean that a Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association Soke Ni-Dai (Founder) can not promote to 10th Dan (Judan) in his own system. A Soke is a title with no grade.  Soke is also a title given with honor and not to be taken just because you are the Founder / Headmaster of your system.  A Soke is above the rank structure of his own system. A Soke can promote up to and including Judan, 10th Dan in one's own respective system, regardless as to one's current grade.

Members who do not hold 10th Dan / Degree grades from their respective teacher / Ryu (system), can not advertise such if they are an Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association member. This is regardless as to any associations recognizing them as such.

Ranking Fee...

The donation for ranking into one of these martial arts systems is $150. This is to be submitted at the time that the candidate turns in his / her request and documents for ranking.

Continued Black Belt Training...

One of the benefits of ranking is the opportunity to test and promote into higher black belt levels. The training for these tests are available by attending Koreja Do training camps, Seminars, and by video training. All Black Belt tests are conducted in front of a testing panel that must have a Master Instructor present. This insures the candidate that their promotion is based upon their skill and ability, with no bias or partiality and at the same time ensures that the standards of the federation are maintained.

Black Belt test fees past introduction into the program...

Any other belt ranking tests that are taken by a member are governed by the by laws of the Koreja Do Christian Martial Arts Association.
